How to Score and Post Your Golf Genius Tournament Round with SwingU.

The SwingU app now supports live scoring through Golf Genius. If you are playing in an event or Tournament that utilizes Golf Genius’s Tournament Management platform, you can now use your SwingU app on your phone, Apple Watch, or Android WearOS watch to record your round, post your score, and view the leaderboard. The rounds you score are still saved to your SwingU account, so you can keep your scores and stats history up to date while participating in a tournament without needing to enter details twice!

Connecting your Golf Genius ID to the SwingU App.

To connect your Golf Genius event to the round within SwingU, you will need to obtain your GGID from the tournament organizer. The GGID will be unique to each player or group, depending on whether it is a team or individual event.

To enter your GGID into the SwingU app, tap on Play from the home page to start a round as you normally would within the app. If you are already at the course where the event is taking place, then that course will automatically be selected. If you are setting up the round from home, then you can select any course nearby to get started, or use the Courses page to search for the event facility.

Once you have selected a course, you will see the GGID box on the Round Setup Screen. If you tap in this box, you will be able to enter the GGID into the app. The GGID is not case-sensitive, so you can simply enter the letters and numbers into the box.

Once you have entered the GGID, if you are already a Pro or Plus member, you will see a confirmation screen letting you know the round is paired to the event.

If you are on the free version of the app, the confirmation screen will also let you know that you have unlocked a free trial period of Pro. This trial is non-recurring, so there is no need to cancel, as the subscription will automatically lapse at the end of the designated period. The first time you pair a GGID as a free user, you will receive 30-day access to SwingU Pro. After your first tournament, free users will still be granted 1-day access to the Pro upgrade features.

Selecting Players and Scoring Options.

Once the GGID has been paired, you will be asked to select the lead player, which would be yourself, as well as select whether you would like to score and post to the Leaderboard, or just keep the scores in SwingU. If you are playing a group event, then one person can keep score for everybody and post the results, or each member can keep their own individual score. If one person is scoring for the group, other group members can still keep score in their own app and save to their account as they would with any other round.

After you make your selections, you will see the Round Setup page populated with all of the information for the round, imported from the GGID. This includes the selected tee and handicap for your round. This information was provided by the event organizers and cannot be changed. If there is incorrect information selected, please see the tournament officials so they can update things accordingly before creating the round.

You will also see all of the players for your grouping listed. If you are only scoring for yourself, please use the trash can icon to remove those players from the round within the app. This will not impact the tournament, and removing a player from the app will not remove them from the group or impact their ability to post scores. If you should accidentally remove a player or decide after removing them that you will keep their score for the tournament, please clear the GGID and then re-enter the number to import all details again.

Once you have confirmed the players and information for the round, you can select your preferred scoring entry method for yourself for the round. You can track Score and Putts, Traditional(Score, Putts, Drive, Direction, Penalty, and Sand shots), or Strokes Gained scoring entry. The scoring method selection will only be changed for your own scores, as all other players you keep score for will be limited to only Score and Putts.

Once you have confirmed all of the information on the Round Setup Screen, you can tap Start Round. The round will begin, and you will see the distance to the first hole and be able to start adding scores. If you are using an Apple Watch on iOS or a WearOS watch on Android, you can now open the app on your watch to see the round details on the watch screen.

If you would like to view the Leaderboard, you can tap on the box on the right side of the screen below the yardages that says Leaderboard, or turn your phone horizontal to see the full scorecard and tap on the Golf Trophy icon.

Once you save the round, the scores will be automatically posted to the leaderboard. Scores can be posted or edited as long as the organizers have left the event as open, but once the event is completed or scoring for your group is locked, you will not be able to edit or submit scores.

Any questions about the GGID or selected details for your grouping should be directed to the tournament organizers, but if you have any questions about the app itself, please email Support@SwingU.com, and we would be happy to help.
